An ARENA funded project led by Scouller Energy, this cyclone rated 5MWp solar farm provides a valuable demonstration of how renewable energy can benefit regional networks. The solar farm located in far north Queensland connects directly to the Ergon Energy Normanton Substation and powers the towns of Normanton and Karumba.

For this project we installed over 5,000 Krinner S 60×2300 ground screws, which double as the posts for the Krinner Flex III mounting system selected for the project.  16,000 Canadian Solar modules are mounted on the fixed array, which is the only cyclone rated mounting system in Australia without the need to reduce leg spacing. Our ground screws and Flex III mounting system have been tested to static strength to AS 4040.2 and cyclic strength tests to BCA 2012 LHL by the James Cook University Cyclone Testing Station.

We hope that the success of the Normanton Solar Farm fuels the growth of renewable power generation across regional Australia towards a more sustainable future.
